But I’m NOT a CEO, I’m a HEALER

Feb 22, 2021

When women business owners don’t think of themselves as CEOs, but as healers, they are often blocking their own success. Today, we are going to talk about how you can be both a healer and a CEO by blending empathic skills with leadership skills.

What you'll find in this episode:

  1. How and why being a healer and a CEO are not mutually exclusive.
  2. People who acknowledge themselves as healers and empaths are well suited and built to lead.
  3. How to leverage your empathic skills to be brilliant at leading and managing a business, rather than thinking you have to suppress them.

Kris Plachy: Hey, I'm Kris Plachy, host of the Lead Your Team podcast. Running a million dollar business is not easy, and whether you are just getting started with building your team or you've been at this for a while, I'm going to bring you honest, specific and clear practices you can use. Right now today to improve how well you lead your team.

Let's go ahead and get started.

Hello, welcome this week to the podcast. Thank you so much for tuning in. I am so happy. But you're here. Was that loud enough for you? I had a little coffee. Not gonna lie. It's early in the morning. I am a little juiced up, ready to go? Okay. I have so much I want to talk to you about, first of all. I am in love with my how to c e o group right now.

I, I fall in love with all of my clients. If you are a client, I hope you know that and you've felt that I love them. And this group is no exception. They're so amazing. I'm just, every call they are so all in, they're so vulnerable. They're so willing. To do this work and I've had all the things like I just so in love.

So one of my clients, Mary she came to a call and talked about and made this comment to me and said, there's absolutely no reason why my business should be this successful. I. Right, just off the cuff, like we say, things like that, right? Like I say things like that, like I'll be like, oh, it's just ridiculous.

This is ridiculous that I get to do this for a living. Is this ridiculous? And I, as soon as I heard her say it, I immediately yelled at her in my coaching love way and said, absolutely not. There absolutely is a reason why your business is this successful. Do you know what it is? And she's no. And I said, it's magic.

It's magic. The fact that you had an idea in your brain and you worked and you put it all together and you made it happen. Listen, I don't wanna take anything away from you about how hard I know you've had to work to create this business, but that's freaking magic. And so do you know what she did? She made herself a bracelet that says, magician on it.

Come on. That's amazing. And then I have another client who got her how to c e o Box, which is the kit we sent you, which is just, I love it and brings so much joy to me to send and write the cards. And my daughter actually helped pack the boxes, which was so fun. She wanted to buy herself a new keyboard, which I think is hysterical cuz the keyboard she wanted to buy just.

Side note, y'all. Is the old school kind with the buttons that you like, like depress, like that? We, well, I don't know who's listening that I used to use and now, I love my little apple keyboards. It's so slick. But she wanted the big old keys that she's oh, it's so satisfying when you push 'em.

So she wanted to do that, so she worked for me. And she filled the boxes. So the boxes went out and they have all these beautiful things in them. So if you don't know what they are, then you just have to join the How to CEO program. And then you get your box. But in the Box is this really lovely shredded paper that sparkles and does things.

And one of my clients sent posted a video of her daughter saying, thank you, Chris Plaquey, her sweet daughter, i, Erin's daughter is probably, I'm gonna guess for maybe I didn't ask, but she's saying, thank you, Chris Plaquey. And then they show, and they made the hot A C E O box, a unicorn bed. And her cute little unicorn is slaying in the bed with its blankie.

I mean, come on. I'm having so much fun. So I'm just in love with everybody and I'm in love with all of you, and I want to do everything I can to help you. Oh, and then we decided to do a retreat, a gathering in Hawaii, because I'm gonna go to Hawaii for the, almost the entire month of March, I've decided to get on a plane.

Brave the Covid Test. Brave the world. Some of you are laughing. Some of you totally get it. Listen, all of us have had our own experience. I don't begrudge anybody theirs. Don't be rich. Me mine. This is a big deal to me. I'm super excited though. I'm gonna go and be in Hawaii for a month. And I decided, well, if I'm there, I might as well do a gathering.

And, I already do my retreats outdoors. So this was an outdoor thing anyway. So I just threw it out to my current and former client. So again, an advantage to being a part of this world that I have created over here of unicorns and magicians. And it's sold out in a week. Done. So I'm gonna have some beautiful, beautiful women join me in Hawaii and we're gonna have an amazing time.

I can't wait. I'm just beyond excited. But what we've been thinking about is we started to have a C E O in January. We're not gonna start a new enrollment session and launch another. Group until April, and I've had plenty of people say, how can I work with you? What you know, I need some help. So I have a couple things that I wanna make sure you know about.

One of which is the empathic C E o virtual Intensive. It's gonna be a three day. We changed it. I was doing it on a Saturday, and I really thought about you and me and my energy. And your energy, and I decided an hour a day. Is better than a three hour immersive thing for this kind of work. So we're gonna do this.

It's gonna be on February 23rd, 24th and 25th. That's Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. It'll be at four Pacific, seven Eastern PM all recorded. You'll get a cute little digital guide. I wouldn't call it so much a workbook, but a guide to help you with all of the terms I'm gonna be introducing to you.

But I really wanted to give create a space for you to come and get some healing work and get some support for how to lead when there's so much noise. Around you, and if you are, if you are, or lean towards this empathic space, which is really being very hypersensitive to other people's emotions, other people's thoughts, the, circumstances and things that are happening in the world, this has been a very difficult year for you in and of itself, outside of everything else that's been going on.

Not to mention just the day-to-day challenges of managing. So I'd love for you to join me at the empathic. C e o virtual intensive, which you can find at the empathic c e o.com. It's a low price investment that you'll get to keep, you'll get all the content, you'll get to keep the videos, and I, I'm super excited about offering it.

And then I also am offering I have about two or three spots starting in March for one-on-one clients. So if you really do feel like you need some support, I'm working with clients who are generating seven figures and higher in their business. We do have one-on-one coaching for women who are still at six figures, and you're working to get to seven and trying to figure out how to do that through team.

So we certainly have tools for you, but I just wanna make sure if you do need some help, you can always find [email protected]. And if you just go to chris blacky.com with slash appointment, you'll find all the links you need to book some time. Now let's get to the topic at hand. I had a lot of announcements.

I'm sorry about that. I don't normally do that. I wanna talk to you about this notion of what I hear some people say. So calling all yogis, Pilates, meditators salon owners, numerologists, astrologists, doctors, psychiatrists, therapists, teachers, you know who you are. Those of you who say, I'm not a C E O.

I'm a healer. I help people. I'm not A C E O. I was nm in many ways you and I wanna talk to you about why and how that thinking is blocking your success. And I also wanna talk to you about why and how. They are not mutually exclusive. So first of all, when you tell yourself I'm a healer and not a c e o, you are denying.

So if you, if you, if you really sit in the space of being leaving, that your role and purpose in life is to serve some sort of healing to use a healing mechanism to serve others. And we all have a different one, right? I can certainly tell you from the time I ever got my very first reading, which I don't even know when that was.

My mom was a a totally into astrology. We used to both get our astrological reports every year. She had an astrologist, her name was Wendy. I remember she would send it on a tape. And we would sit and listen to it. And that started years ago. That was, and my mom was a very successful businesswoman. So I wanna put this in context, right?

Here's my mom who ran multimillion dollar organization. She was in industry, like a non-profit slash government business, and yet she got her astrological report. Every year. So that started very young for me. So ever since that happened, I've been told I'm an healer. I've been told my, I will, I will always be in this, this is my calling, is to be in this space of serving others helping others, sharing information and, and putting it in a context where others can understand it in a way that maybe.

Is hard for you to understand normally that that's just something I was born into. Whether we say it's fate, whether we say it's the stars, whether we say it's the planets, whether we say it's the numbers in my name, they all say the same thing. Okay? So whatever it is that you believe you are here to do, okay?

You, when you say, I am, Not a businesswoman. I am not a c e o. I am not a manager. You are actually decapitating, you are cutting off part of your asset because you, your ability to build a business, lead a company. I don't care if it's one person or 14 or 44 or 400, if the vision of the business is to heal, insert here.

The more effective and successful that business is, the more other people are healing. When I first started working, I was in a sales position and I didn't like it. I've talked to you guys about this. I was good at it, but I didn't love it. It felt weird. So I remember this Zig Ziegler quote, which I know a lot of you are gonna know, right?

Which is something like, I'm gonna mess it up. Which is something like, you can have anything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want. And I cut that out and I put it on my monitor when I was 24 years old. That's what I looked at every day to remind me that my success, my willingness to lean into what's uncomfortable, my willingness to step into sales which felt very like corporatey grown up and structured and male, was to do that so that then I could be successful and I could help all these other people.

So you dismissing and saying, I'm not a C E O, I'm a healer. You've just cut yourself off from part of your success portal like this, this vortex that takes you, that advances you faster, that advances the work faster, that advances more healing. Does that make sense? I hope that resonates Like you. You can't just sit in your yoga studio and suffer with your instructors because you don't know what to do with them and think you're actually healing.

You're not healing, you're miserable. You can't be an unhealed c e o and expect to heal others. You can't be an unhealed business owner and expect to heal others. You cannot have your own wounds that come from your business daily and expect to fullthroated heal others. It's not gonna work. And you'll think it's because you're not good at being a C E O.

No. You just haven't learned. I could teach you. There's lots of people, frankly who could. I think I'm pretty damn good at it. I think you should work with me, but we could teach you that. Do not give up on healing, but a broken, resentful, burdened, heroed, frustrated, angry business owner is not healing anybody.

Let alone yourself. Welcome to the yelling Podcast with Chris Plak. Can you tell I'm very enthusiastic, not to mention I did have the coffee. I told you that. Okay. I hope I made my point. I think I probably did. You either have turned this thing off by now or you're like, dang, girl, you got me. B. B not healer.

Tells me things about you if you was, if that, if I, if I use that word and you're like, oh, maybe I am a healer. Yeah. Or you're like, wait, let's talk about what, being that, what that means, being a healer to me, being a healer means that you are someone who applies their wisdom and their knowing and their education and their knowledge and their tools to remedy pain for other people.

And I don't think it's any more complex than that. You have an ochi somewhere and I have a solution and I can help you with it, and I do so not because I want your money, but I do so because I feel ache. If I don't help you, I feel. I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing. Like I, I feel my eyes are getting teary talking about this.

I feel like I've left something behind, like I can't have this insight in me and not share it with you as I watch you in pain. I have to, I have to give it to you, and whether you take it or not, that's not my job. As your healer, as your teacher, as your mentor. But I will yell at you until you get it right.

So if that resonates for you, then here's what I know. Empaths, empaths are often attracted to entrepreneurship because of that very thing. You see a thing in the world and you think this is missing. There are people hurting because it doesn't exist. There are people blundering through life because they don't have this.

It's not because you know there, sure there are empa, there are entrepreneurs who have very different incentive and I don't begrudge that. This is not a contest. This is not a judgment. This is just me talking to you if you resonate here. And when you are someone who is inclined to heal others, if you haven't developed skills to harness your empathic skill, your tool, your, your talent, your superpower, it will in many cases become the part of you that makes your business feel toxic.

And we can work to change that. But what I want you to see is that I believe this to be true. I believe that people who acknowledge themselves as healers and empaths, people who deeply feel other people's feelings, who deeply know and and hear other people's thoughts, you are suited. You are not only suited, you were built to lead.

We just have to teach you. How to blend the superpower with the skills of c e Oing. Of leading. Of managing, because when you do that right then, We figure out it's not just the recipe for making more money. I know a lot of business owners, that's what they're constantly trying to find. The seven steps to this, the five steps to scaling the how to and look, get.

Hire all the people, get the help with your marketing and your sales. But if you don't know how to lead a team, none of that's gonna matter. Eventually, you will trip over your own revenue. You will trip over the size of your own business, you will tumble beyond your success because you, you built this company.

It makes all this money, but you don't have a team to, to do it. And the team part, I know, see the, the generating revenue, figuring out marketing, figuring out sales that is not nearly as personal of a journey as it is leadership. Learning how to lead and build a team and create a culture and do so as a healer is one of the most strikingly powerful exercises, lessons you will go through.

And it is not for the faint of heart, but you do the work and then you are unstoppable. And then you can build an organization that echoes. And reverberates your message and your tools and your skills and your vision exponentially into the world. Come on. That's magic. So you do get to be a healer, and as a healer, you're one of the best people to work for.

As a healer, you build some of the best corporate cultures, company, cultures there are on the planet. What I want for you is to be able to do that and not at your own expense. Healers give of themselves to the point where they are tapped out, that's not worth it. We've gotta be able to do both. We've gotta be able to be the healer and the c e o.

And I wanna stress one more thing. I said, yoga owners, yoga studio studio owners and Pilates owners and right, i, I all of that. And then there's also accountants. Who own accounting firms, people who own floral shops, people who own who are attorneys, people who have online businesses. There is no part of the world that is exclusively owned by healers.

I just use that as a reference because I hear it the most from my clients who are in those spaces. So I want you to own your healer ness and your abilities and your capabilities and the beautiful magic you bring into the world through what you do, whatever that is. And I also want you to claim the space of being a c e O.

Now, whether you call yourself or that or not is irrelevant to me, and I've said that before. It's more what happens in your brain when I say to you, oh, you run your own business. Hi, c e o. Do you, do you resist it? And then why? Because that dance is the one that is limiting you and your business, and I think also causing you a lot of strife.

It doesn't have to be there. So we're gonna talk about in the empathic c e o, how to use that, how to leverage your empathic skill to be brilliant at leading and managing a business, rather than thinking you have to stuff it, you have to hide it, you have to suppress it. Because that is a lie. And the last thing I'll say is a longer podcast than normal is we are in a world right now that's changing.

And as I've said this before, I'll repeat again. The models of leadership that have existed for thousands of years for us as a species are shifting. I watched this incredible video the other day. I'm sure many of you have seen it, of all of the women who are now leading countries throughout the world. We are watching an absolute transformation in what it means to lead, and it is our call now.

If you are a woman who also relishes and lives to help others and heal others, we need you to know how to lead. We do not need you hiding in the corner. Worrying fretting, feeling overwhelmed, feeling guilty because you're not good enough at it, worrying about doing it right or wrong. We need you to step up.

It's time we are changing the world, y'all, and I wanna help you do this so you get to be a healer and a ceo. All the things, not one or the other. All right. Thanks for tuning in. Talk to you next time. One more thing before you go. In a world of digital courses and online content, I like to work with my clients live because I know that when you have someone you can work with, ask questions of and meet with, you're so much more likely to get the success that you want.

So head on over to how to ceo live.com. To learn more about our very exciting, very exclusive program just for female entrepreneurs. We'll see you there.
