Module 8, Lesson 3: Discomfort
Society has conditioned us to avoid discomfort, hindering our resilience and growth as leaders. After working with so many women, I challenge the notion of allowing discomfort to hold you back and encourage you to take ownership of your discomfort and refuse to be victims of your own mind.
The 3 key ideas introduced are:
1️⃣ Discomfort is not a stop sign: As leaders, we often come across difficult situations that make us uncomfortable. However, it's crucial to remember that discomfort doesn't mean we should stop pursuing our goals. Instead, it should be viewed as an opportunity for growth and learning.
2️⃣ Resilience is key: Our modern world has conditioned us to expect comfort and instant gratification. This has led to a lack of resilience when faced with discomfort. As leaders, it's essential to develop our resilience and ability to handle discomfort effectively, for it directly impacts our success and the well-being of our teams.
3️⃣ Embrace the uncomfortable: Identifying and acknowledging our personal discomforts is the first step towards growth. By pushing through these discomforts, whether it's having tough conversations or confronting situations head-on, we unlock our full potential and pave the way for our next level of leadership.
Remember, discomfort is not a hurdle to avoid but an invitation to grow. Let's embrace it, show resilience, and lead with purpose!
